One of the characteristics that distinguishes man from other beings is the God-given gift of intellect. Development of this intellect is a vital ingredient in the making of judgments and decisions in the everyday Christian life. Sometimes making the right decision depends upon one's ability to put aside emotions and prejudices and to think logically.
We, the Mathematics Department at Little Flower, strive to develop not only mathematical skills that are necessary for our students to become informed consumers and productive workers, but also those intellectual skills needed for logical reasoning and problem solving. In addition, we endeavor to generate in our students an awareness and appreciation of the richness of mathematics and its importance in today's society.
* To reinforce students' basic mathematical skills, thus building their self-confidence and self-image to deal with everyday life.
* To enable students to communicate mathematically by clarifying, refining and consolidating their thinking.
* To encourage students to think logically by drawing specific conclusions from general principles.
* To help students become mathematical problem solvers, essential to becoming a productive citizen.
